I am sad to report the passing away of another LOF member – Ex Chief Engineer John Evans.
(I sailed with John on the ‘London Pride’ around 1981)
I received the following this morning (24th)
Hi Roy,
My sister and I came across your LOF News website while searching for information about the London Valour.
Our dad, John Evans, served with LOF for many years from around 1963 to the mid 1980s.
He was a survivor of the London Valour shipwreck in Genoa, 1970. Our thoughts often go to those who lost their lives and their families. Dad very rarely talked about that day but when he did he was full of emotion.
During the mid to late 70s we all spent many happy summers aboard the London Pride when she was anchored off Greece waiting for a charter. Dad became chief engineer and later worked for Stena Lines and V ships as superintendent.
Sadly dad died on 13th September 2024 aged 81.
We wondered if you may wish to add a note to your website about his history and passing.
If you’re interested and would like any more information or photos we may have, please let us know.
Thanks and well done for creating this LOF website.
Ian Evans and Louisa Taylor
I have contacted the family and sent our condolences.
